Pokka Video Project

This was a special project that we did for Pokka Singapore from November to December 2020. It was a video production for their Long Service Award, having completed the entire process from conceptualization, all the way to final post-production and handover of the final video to the client within a month.

There were several challenges that we had to overcome during the process of doing the project, primarily learning and planning to work around the ever-changing Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, as set by governmental regulations.

We overcame this first obstacle by planning the video shoots with social distancing in mind, always ensuring that our masks are on, and maintaining a minimum social distancing space of 1 meter for everyone involved. This adds to the job scope for the video producer on the ground, who normally already has his hands full with ensuring that we are abiding by the usual laws, rules and regulations such as privacy releases, site permits as well as handling and mitigating other unplanned operational issues.

There was another key obstacle that we encountered. The interviewees are not used to being in front of a camera, and are very shy, taking a lot of effort to muster the courage to  speak naturally in front of the camera lens.

We overcame this obstacle by having the Project Producer and Chief Videographer constantly encourage interviewees, and making them feel more comfortable by joking with them and getting more familiar with each other, attempting to coax them into a more relaxed frame of mind.

We also utilized a teleprompter as a backup to assist them with their key speaking points, when they have a mental block while speaking, unable to continue with their original answers, as well as insert in words to help guide them along.

This was an interesting learning experience for us. With enough planning, preparation and working closely with the client, we were able to maneuver around the tight Covid-19 governmental regulated restrictions and obstacles, and in turn we were able to meet the tight deadline and produce the video in time for them to showcase to their award winners.

The client was pretty relieved too, as they were also concerned that the restrictions that arose from the Covid-19 restrictions would impede the project from getting completed on time. They were pleased with the end result and we are happy that we did not fail their expectations.
